What is weariness
Weariness is simply put: “lack of strength”. As Christians, there are times when we all give up completely, thinking “God has given up on us.” We give up on our selves and even think the devil has given up on us. At our weakest moment, when we completely lack strength, that is the point of weariness.
As mere mortals, it is humane for us to be weary in difficult times. Indeed, the bible lists examples of several respected biblical figures who became weary. This list surprisingly includes Moses, Elijah and Job. This however is no good reason your us to be weary. This is because our God never gets weary. As his children therefore, we must not get weary.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Isaiah 40:28
Weariness is so dangerous. It can cause you to make wrong decisions. These decisions will cost your destiny.
Weariness is a mark of the anti-Christ
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Daniel 7:25
Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day. And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.”So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright. Genesis 25:29-34
In Esau’s weariness, he sold his birth right to Jacob! Weariness therefore gives your legitimate right to the devil, its so dangerous!
OK, so it’s dangerous. How do I deal with weariness?
Weariness is a spirit. The only true way to deal with weariness is to be with the one who never gets weary. In other words, in order to deal with weariness, you must wear out the devil by remaining with the one who never gets weary.
Jesus tells a story in Luke 8:1. This parable was about a widow who needed justice from a man who neither feared God nor respected man. This is a classical description of Satan and the anti-Christ! Satan doesn’t fear God. The parable however continues to talk about how the woman persistently asked for justice. She constantly asked for justice till the unjust judge “… said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”
How then do I end?
The only solution to weariness is to depend on God. Jesus said that men ought to pray and not fait.
Waiting on God is the solution to weariness.
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
