My heart was filled with sorrow yesterday. You may all be aware of the campaign we launched to increase our online reach. Due to a host of factors, the campaign was cancelled. As I pondered and reflected, I questioned the hand of God in our ministry. “Did you bring us this far to let us down?” I inquired. I was down trodden and heavy laden. Suddenly, the words of Jesus dawned on me:
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up
After recalling this scripture, an energy instantaneously filled my body. The solution to discouragement is prayer! Wow! I quickly moved to one of the beautiful beaches close by. My intention was sure: to pray. As I prayed, I sang and communed with God. The words of Jesus are true. All discouragement left my spirit as I exercised my faith. After the prayers, I was sure God would provide.
I walked along the lone streets of Accra, being thankful and grateful to God. As I walked, from nowhere, I met one of my old High School friends. He had been an inspiration to me in High School. As a programmer and web designer, he was doing an internship in one of the banks in Accra. He inquired of the ministry, since he was aware of some of our writings. To cut a long story short, he decided to help with the site’s design update. This decision alone has cut down the budget for our campaign by about $2200. God just answered my prayer! Wow!
I then recalled the scripture in Proverbs:
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:6
I’m beginning to feel guilty about our campaign. To be honest, though we prayed, I wish we had listened more to the directions of God. Just a session of prayer opened such a huge door. We’ll continue to seek the face of God in this matter. Whoever you are, whatever you are going through, the lesson is sure: in whatever you do, in whatever situation you find yourself, make sure you take some time to pray, for by that you will save yourself a lot of discouragement. Prayer is the solution to discouragement. Amen!
