A group of kids decided to break bread together. Each one hated the other in his heart, yet they lived in deceit, pretending to love each other as they shared the food. Suddenly, the place became dark, for there was a power outage. ‘Aaaah,’ someone screamed. Chaos filled the air, as there was no order in the arena. ‘Take that,’ one kids said, throwing a bowl at his colleague. Another took all the meat and gobbled it up, as the sand does foam. Yet still, another sat on the floor and wept bitterly, for their true motives had been revealed. Suddenly, the lights returned, and each one discovered how wicked they had been.
The moral of the story? Without light, there is no direction. Without light, darkness takes over! Without light, there is chaos! Without light, there is total misdirection! What has this got to do with leadership? Read on.
…there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted. And Ishbi-Benob..said he would kill David. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.” 2 Samuel 21:15
Did you read the scripture above? Wow! Abishai rescued David because his demise meant that the lamp of Israel would be extinguished! How many of us are willing to rescue our leaders through prayer? The lamp opens our eyes, the lamp brings hope, the lamp settles chaos, the lamp represents our leaders! Hallelujah! Listen to what the Israelites had to say one time when David wanted to go into a battle:
But the men said, “You must not go out; if we are forced to flee, they won’t care about us. Even if half of us die, they won’t care; but you are worth ten thousand of us. It would be better now for you to give us support from the city.” 2 Samuel 18:3
Wow! The Israelites cared about their leaders! They sacrificed their lives for them, for they understood the concept of the lamp. Our leaders are our lamps! They are God’s representatives here on earth. Without their direction, nations will be led astray. I have seen ungodly leaders lead a whole nation astray. That is why we need to pray for all leaders. I shall pray for my president, I shall pray for my pastors! I shall pray for my father, I shall pray for my parents! All leaders around me must be blessed and have a sound mind to lead God’s people. I hope you join forces with me in this resolution. Comments…
