DISTRACTIONS – M.A
I woke up this morning from a dream and it got me thinking about “DISTRACTIONS”.
I dreamt I was living in a large building, in my own cubicle with several others. Evening approached in the dream and I decided to retire to bed. But I had sooo many “issues” and “problems” and “wishes” which consumed my mind and were what I was meditating on and thinking about as I went to sleep. What I didn’t know was I had elevated these things as “god” in my life and given no chance to the Word of God to renew my mind, strengthen, encourage and provide. I woke up the next morning in the dream and I knew what had happened whilst I slept! I just knew it!!! “THE RAPTURE” had taken place and I was asleep!!!. As I walked round the now empty camp, I saw some people I shouldn’t have seen. My loved ones, walking their morning normally, chatting and laughing, completely oblivious to what had just happened! A worship leader in my church, people I wish had never been LEFT BEHIND were seen in the camp!. I cried in my heart for them than for myself, knowing the GREAT TRIBULATION that awaited us all!.
When I woke from the dream this morning and sat to study, an issue in my life crossed my mind- again. As soon as it did, I remembered the dream and the word, “DISTRACTIONS” came to mind.
You see, we tend to focus UNCONSCIOUSLY on our problems and situations, elevating them above God and spend the time meant to PRAISE GOD IN THE STORM like Paul and Silas, feeding and grooming our fears and doubt, giving the WORD OF GOD no space in our lives.
God is NOT A MAN, THAT HE SHOULD LIE, NOR THE SON OF MAN, THAT HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS MIND. Our Father has promised us good things and he cautions us in Matthew 6:25-32 not to worry about the hardships of life. Jesus gave us this remedy: TO SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL OTHER THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO US.
I guess I would have made it to the rapture in my dream if I didn’t exalt my problems above God and sought after God with all my heart and like David, slept meditating on His word – day and night.
IT’S NOT AN EASY ROAD we are travelling on and LIKE JOB WE WILL FACE MANY TRIALS. The Bible says, “MANY ARE THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE LORD DELIVERS HIM FROM THEM ALL!”.
SO STAY STRONG CHILD OF GOD and DON’T LOSE FOCUS LIKE PETER DID, WHEN HIS EYES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED ON JESUS, BUT WERE RATHER LOOKING AT THE STORMS. DON’T GET DISTRACTED CHILD OF GOD!!! AND KNOW THAT ALL THINGS ARE WORKING TOGETHER FOR YOUR GOOD. If He did it for others who have journeyed ahead of us, He will do it again in our time, IT IS WELL. LOVE Y’ALL.
